St Tropez Tanning
This is a cream, self-tan product used by beauty professionals, celebrities and beauty editors. It provides a long lasting, natural looking tan that is streak free and will not turn orange.
St Tropez is safe for use by anyone, including pregnant women. Some medications can prevent the colour developing and in some cases, people can actually be allergic to DHA (dihydroxy acetone). This means that they are unable to use any self-tan products as it is the high concentration of DHA that give St Tropez its desirable colour.
The process starts with a full body exfoliation to remove excess dry skin. Knees and elbows are then moisturised, it is only then that the tanning lotion is applied to the entire body.
Results vary from client to client as everyone has a unique chemical reaction with the tanning product, therefore if you have a pale skin it will provide a subtle colour which can be deepened by a second application.
St. Tropez Cream Tan Application - Full Body - £20.00 / Full Leg - £10.00
Hopi Ear Candling
Otherwise known as thermo-auricular therapy, this therapy seems to have originated from the Hopi Indians, a Native American Tribe also known as 'peaceful people'.
What are they?
Hopi ear candles are not like traditional candles. They are still made from beeswax, but are made as hollow candles, like slim chimneys, using cotton or linen. The candles also contain honey and herbs such as Camomile, Sage and St Johns Wort as well as essential oils like Eucalyptus, Lavender and Peppermint.
What is involved?
With the client lying on their side, so that the auditory canal is vertical, a lighted candle is placed in the outer ear canal and turned slightly to create a seal. The therapist holds the candle in place so that it remains in the best position possible for the treatment. As the candle burns it generates a gentle crackling sound and with it, a warm, comfortable feeling as it draws out any impurities in the ear.
Both ears are normally done in one session, followed by a gentle massage of the face and in particular the lymphatic drainage areas. Relaxation is also recommended after treatment. The burning times of the candles vary between clients from 10 to 15 minutes per candle. An overall session can be up to one hour.
Using the 'chimney principle', the burning candle draws any impurities to the surface, (these are removed after treatment). It does this with the warmth of the flame and the essential oils in the candle. Whilst most deposits do evaporate through the 'chimney', some can be found in the residue of the candle after treatment. None of the candle residue or deposits will go into the ear.
What are the benefits?
The benefits of this treatment include:
- Reduced pressure in the ear, which can help with balance and inner ear problems
- Can reduce wax build up in the ears
- Can help reduce tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- Helps with sinus problems, colds, sore throats and stress
- A syringing alternative
Divers can also benefit from this treatment. The treatment can help to balance the ear pressure over a course of treatments and has been known to enable divers to reach further depths before encountering ear pressure problems. This treatment is also good if you have a long haul flight due. A session just before you fly and then another session within a week of returning, can help to ease ear pressure balance.
There are no major side effects to this treatment. However, this treatment IS NOT SUITABLE for people who have an inflammation or infection of the ear. It should not be performed on people who have had recent surgery on the ears or if grommets are fitted. This treatment should not be carried out on people who have suffered from perforated ear drums in the last twelve months. Also, ask the therapist about the ingredients of the candles in order to check for possible allergies.
